Proclamation: Shrine Circus Week

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the Jerusalem Shriners, with their auditorium located at 1940 Ormond Boulevard, Destrehan, Louisiana, are an integral part of St. Charles Parish, and various community activities; and,
WHEREAS, the Jerusalem Shriners are active partners in the Department of Parks and Recreation of St. Charles Parish by providing land at no cost to the Parish for use as soccer/athletic fields; and,
WHEREAS, Units within the Jerusalem Shrine sponsor children's soccer and baseball teams; and,
WHEREAS, the Jerusalem Shriners through the Shrine of North America provide expert medical care to children with severe burns, orthopedic problems, spinal chord injuries or children who need re-constructive plastic surgery without regard to race, creed, religious affiliation or the ability to pay at no cost to the families of these children, no cost to any governmental agency in the United States, and no cost to insurance companies; and,
WHEREAS, the primary source of funding for the activities of the Jerusalem Shriners is the Annual Shrine Circus; and,
WHEREAS, the Jerusalem Shriners will stage their 56th Annual Shrine Circus at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner, Louisiana from November 21st through November 25th, 2001.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM NOVEMBER 19 - 25, 2001 AS
SHRINE CIRCUS WEEK
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH, AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF ST. CHARLES PARISH TO SUPPORT AND ATTEND THE SHRINE CIRCUS.
