IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Sergeant Paul Finn is a resident of St. Charles Parish and a 15 year veteran of the St. Charles Sheriff's Office; and,
WHEREAS, Sergeant Finn, a canine specialist, and his canine partner "Boefy", a nine year old Belgian Malinois, have worked with the U. S. Marshals Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force in the Eastern District of Louisiana since 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office buys dogs from a breeder in The Netherlands and when he got here, Bo whose full name translates to "Bad Little Boy" in Dutch, was not working out in early training; but when he was paired with Sergeant Finn, something clicked, and Bo became a star; and,
WHEREAS, Sergeant Finn and Bo have worked with the Task Force to track down and arrest some of the District's most dangerous fugitives, including two defendants profiled on America's Most Wanted and three major case arrests; and,
WHEREAS, Sheriff Greg Champagne understands the importance of Sergeant Finn's work ethic and said the joint efforts with other agencies help St. Charles while at the same time, helping people in other Parishes and locations take a bite out of crime; and,
WHEREAS, Sergeant Finn was temporarily called back to the Sheriff's Department in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and Rita, and he continued to support the Task Force during early-morning, late-evening, or weekend fugitive call-outs; and,
WHEREAS, one supervisor said of the two, "Paul finds 'em, and Bo catches 'em." Together they form an integral part of the Marshal's Service Fugitive Task Force and has exhibited leadership and dedication that is matched by few; and,
WHEREAS, on April 11, 2007, Sergeant Finn was honored at the Director's Awards Ceremony held in Washington, D.C.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
