IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Joseph Mahler is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Destrehan, Louisiana with his parents Dennis and Cheryl Mahler and sister Sharie Ann; and,
WHEREAS, Joseph graduated from Destrehan High School May 17, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, Joseph has been involved in many school and community organizations. He served as Drum Major of the Destrehan High School Marching Band, a member of the Parish and District Honor Band and Choir, earned a spot on the All State Honor Band, was a member of the JROTC for four years and served as Wing Commander, American Legion Boys State Delegate, member of the Harry Hurst Middle School Wetland Watchers and rose to the rank of Eagle Scout on March 16, 2007, and will receive his badge in a ceremony on August 5, 2007, at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Luling; and,
WHEREAS, Joseph has done volunteer work with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Destrehan Plantation's Fall Festival, the St. Charles Rotary Club's Alligator Festival, and the St. Charles Parish Doll and Toy Fund; and,
WHEREAS, Joseph was recently awarded an Air Force Scholarship and a Navy ROTC Scholarship; and,
WHEREAS, Joseph plans to attend the U. S. Navy or U. S. Air Force Academy to become a pilot, and while waiting a reply from the U. S. Air Force Academy, he may attend Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge; and,
WHEREAS, Joseph has been named the St. Charles Rotary Club's 2007 East Bank Young Person of the Year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
JOSEPH MAHLER
