Proclamation: "German Coast Farmers' and Holiday Market Day"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the Parish is working to revitalize the Paul Maillard Road corridor under a federal Sustainable Communities grant; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish has sought unique ways to increase awareness for this project and gather community input; and,
WHEREAS, a goal of the project is to increase access to healthy food for neighborhoods; and,
WHEREAS, the German Coast Farmers' Market has served as a community gathering place, tourist destination, and a market for a wide range of fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other value-added items for over ten years; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of the German Coast Farmers' Market aligns with the project goal to create opportunities for community gathering places along Paul Maillard Road; and,
WHEREAS, making healthy, locally sourced, food available to the Paul Maillard Road neighborhood creates an opportunity to implement an idea generated by the "Paul Maillard Road would be better if
" community chalk boards; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council and the Parish President do hereby support and promote operation of the German Coast Farmers' and Holiday Craft Market on December 11, 2013 at the Winwood Shopping Center, 1313 Paul Maillard Road, from 3pm - 6pm.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM DECEMBER 11, 2013 AS
"GERMAN COAST FARMERS' AND HOLIDAY MARKET DAY"
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT THE CITIZENS OF ST. CHARLES PARISH ARE HEREBY ENCOURAGED TO VISIT AND SHOP THE FARMERS' MARKET ON PAUL MAILLARD ROAD THIS DAY.
