Proclamation: "J.B. MARTIN CIRQUE du SOLEIL DAY IN ST. CHARLES PARISH"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, J.B. Martin Middle School in Paradis is committed to being a leader in education technology; and,
WHEREAS, J.B. Martin Middle School has been selected to participate with Bravo and Cox Communications in Cox's Line to Learning Program; and,
WHEREAS, J. B. Martin Middle School will join other middle schools in Cox communities in a comprehensive program that focuses on the study of "Careers in the Arts"; and,
WHEREAS, J.B. Martin will participate in this live event which is truly a once-in-a-lifetime event; and,
WHEREAS, the students will receive a "behind-the-scenes" look at the performers preparing for their live performance; and,
WHEREAS, the students will "run away" to Cirque du Soleil's Dralion, an ancient Chinese circus tradition; and,
WHEREAS, Dralion is a celebration of life and the four elements that maintain natural order: air, water, fire, and earth; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council and Parish President wish to recognize the students, faculty and staff at J.B. Martin Middle School for receiving such an honor.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT DO HEREBY PROCLAIM WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2001, TO BE
"J.B. MARTIN CIRQUE du SOLEIL DAY IN ST. CHARLES PARISH"
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF ARE HEREBY COMMENDED FOR CONTINUING TO MAKE ST. CHARLES PARISH TRULY A PLACE "WHERE THERE'S MORE TO LIFE".
