IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Monae’ NiJada Gordon is the daughter of JeT’aime Monique Gordon of Boutte Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, Monae’ is currently a sixth grade student at J.B. Martin Middle School in Paradis, where she is a straight A student and is very active at her school; and,
WHEREAS, at Lakewood Elementary School in Luling, Monae’ received the leadership award, Retired Teachers Association award, and she earned the highest GPA in reading, writing, math, and social studies; and,
WHEREAS, Monae’ has nine years dance experience taught by Dance Unlimited of the River Parishes located in Destrehan, and she dances for the New Orleans Pelicans Jr. Danceteam where she has been a member for three consecutive years. Her future plans are to become a dance choreographer and fashion designer; and,
WHEREAS, on August 9, 2015, Monae’ was crowned the 9th Junior Miss Queen at the annual Festival of Charities Pageant held at the American Legion Hall in St. Rose, and she also received the Fashion and Photogenic Awards; and,
WHEREAS, the Festival of Charities is a non-profit organization that started in October 2007, which benefits the Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans and other charitable organizations; and,
WHEREAS, as Junior Miss Queen, Monae’ will represent the Festival of Charities at local and parish events raising awareness for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
