Title
An ordinance of the Parish of St. Charles providing that the Code of Ordinances, Parish of St. Charles, be amended by revising Section 15-5, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, of said Code, to provide for the installation of "No Left Turn" signs for trucks in excess of 5 tons crossing the Union Pacific Railroad on Gassen Street.

WHEREAS, On April 21, 2006 the construction of Parish Project No. P030909, Gassen Street Railroad Crossing Resurfacing and Widening was completed; and,
WHEREAS, A median, as required by the railroad, was constructed which separated the travel lanes; and,
WHEREAS, It was observed and reported that this median created a condition to which vehicles in excess of five tons have difficulty in executing a left turn onto Luling Avenue, when heading north on Gassen Street, and onto Easy Street, when heading south on Gassen Street, after crossing the Union Pacific Railroad tracks; and,
WHEREAS, These left turns have been observed to cause damage to the median and median markers and potentially have the ability to cause damage to the respective vehicle driving over the median.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That in accordance with Section 15-5, Motor Vehicles and Traffic of the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances, the Department of Public Works, is hereby authorized to order the erection, removal and location of such traffic control signs, signals, devices and markings as provided in the chapter or any amendments hereto.
SECTION II. That "No Left Turn" signs are installed for trucks in excess of 5 tons at the intersection of the Union Pacific Railroad on Gassen Street.
