IN RECOGNITION

WHEREAS, Remi Mato is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Luling, Louisiana, with her parents Sharon and Joe Mato, Jr., and her siblings, Tori, Kayli, and Ryli; and,
WHEREAS, Remi is a 2020 graduate of Hahnville High School and currently attends Louisiana State University majoring in physical therapy; and,
WHEREAS, Remi, is a Girl Scout Ambassador with Luling Troop 21346. She received the Gold Award in 2020 for her project, "We Walk for Life, One Step at a Time," an event for cancer patients and their caregivers at Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge; and,
WHEREAS, Remi is one of four local Girl Scouts who have recently earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor a Senior or Ambassador can achieve; and,
WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Gold Award inspires girls to find the greatness inside themselves and share their ideas and passions with their communities. It requires the completion of a combination of several leadership journeys, which involve activities allowing the Girl Scout to discover herself and her values, team with others, and take action in the community. Upon completion of these requirements, she must plan and execute a community service project that reaches beyond the Girl Scout organization and provides a sustainable, lasting benefit to the community; and,
WHEREAS, Remi spent a minimum of 80 hours lending a listening ear to patients and growing a stronger voice for cancer advocacy by organizing and hosting the event, complete with bingo, food and prizes, by raising money through local 4-H clubs, school clubs, and other cancer advocacy organizations in her community; and,
WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Gold Award gives Remi the chance to show her prestigious honor of being a leader who is organized and dedicated to improving her community. Earning the award puts her among an exceptional group of girls who have changed th...
