Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development lower the Speed Limit on the Hale Boggs Bridge from 70 mph to 60 mph.
Body
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne is in favor of a lower speed limit on the bridge and has written in the past to the DOTD requesting such; and,
WHEREAS, we feel that 70 mph is way too fast, especially considering that I-310 north of the bridge is 60 mph; and,
WHEREAS, several accidents have occurred on the bridge, causing both injury and death.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development lower the Speed Limit on the Hale Boggs Bridge from 70 mph to 60 mph.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Governor Bobby Jindal, Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., Representative Ernest D. Wooton, Department of Transportation & Development Interim Secretary Sherri LeBas, and Department of Transportation & Development District Administrator Mike Stack asking their assistance in this regard.

And the resolution was declared adopted this day of , 2010 to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
