IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, District Attorney Harry J. Morel, Jr. and his wife Gwen are residents of Luling, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and they are the proud parents of three daughters and three wonderful grandchildren: Chloe, Cameron, and Collin; and,
WHEREAS, District Attorney Morel is a graduate of Jesuit High School, and has an undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and his Juris Doctorate from LSU Law School; and,
WHEREAS, District Attorney Morel worked as an Orleans Parish City Attorney, later accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney with the St. Charles Parish District Attorney's Office and worked until he won the election as District Attorney in 1978, and has held the office since 1979 and has been unopposed in all subsequent elections; and,
WHEREAS, District Attorney Morel served as the past President of the Louisiana District Attorney's Association, currently he is a member of their Board of Directors, he was recently elected to the National District Attorney's Association, and he represents the 29th Judicial District of the State; and,
WHEREAS, District Attorney Morel has received various recognitions, serves on numerous other boards and is a member of various organizations. The Victim's and Citizens Against Crime recognized him as Prosecutor of the Year, he has long served as a member of the Louisiana Commission in Law Enforcement, is currently Chairman of the Louisiana State Victims Services Advisory Board, and the Drug Control and Violent Crime Policy Board. He is also a member of the LCLE Priorities Committee, and the Peace Officers Standards and Training Committee.
