IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Mark Candies is a resident of Luling, Louisiana with his wife B.J., children Grant and Lauren, and their German shepherd, Bacchus; and,
WHEREAS, Lt. Candies is a 16 year Veteran with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, a graduate of Hahnville High School, and a 2001 Graduate of Nicholls State University with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Lt. Candies was one of 5 who graduated from Nicholls under a department tuition paid program encouraged by Sheriff Champagne; and,
WHEREAS, Lt. Candies is a Field Supervisor for the F.T.O. Program, and is currently assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division as a Watch Commander. Serving in numerous other capacities he is an original Member of the High Risk Entry Team and is the Department's Honor Guard Commander; and,
WHEREAS, Lt. Candies is an Adjutant Staff Instructor for his agency with duties as an Instructor in Field Training and in Service Programs and Basic Training Academy. Lt. Candies holds instructor certifications from the Louisiana P.O.S.T. Council and the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and,
WHEREAS, Lt. Candies has been awarded the designation of Certified Law Enforcement Trainer by the Professional Certification Board of the American Society for Law Enforcement Training Base in Frederick, MD; and,
WHEREAS, Lt. Candies is the First Law Enforcement Officer in Louisiana to be awarded the CLET designation, and only one of 30 officers in the United States to be recognized in 2002, according to the Professional Certification Board of the American Society of Law Enforcement Training; and,
WHEREAS, Lt. Candies in earning this designation had to demonstrate exceptional educational, community involvement and work experience and pass a written exam to test knowledge, skills, and abilities in the area of professional training and development. The CLET cre...
