IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, the National Development Council (NDC), is the oldest National non-profit Community and Economic Development Organization in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, for more than 40 years, the NDC has worked to create and implement economic and community development strategies that increase the flow of capital, establish finance programs, and help to create a professional economic and community development workforce; and,
WHEREAS, the NDC has worked with thousands of communities in every one of the 50 States and Puerto Rico, offering a wide range of services, including development assistance, professional training, investment in affordable housing, small business financing, and direct developer services; and,
WHEREAS, the NDC Academy is a biennial conference of the National Development Council, which brings together economic and community development professionals from around the Nation with Policy Makers, Advocates, and Elected Officials for high impact training, learning
, and networking; and,
WHEREAS, the National Development
Council has announced the top four winners of the NDC Academy 2011 Project Showcase, a special feature of NDC's biennial conference which showcases the top Economic and Community Development Projects in the Nation. Submissions came in for the open competition from cities and communities across the Nation in unprecedented numbers; 24 finalists - six in each of the four categories were chosen by NDC to compete for top honors at the NDC Academy on May 25, 2011 in Washington, D.C.
