Proclamation: German Coast Farmers' Market Week

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, farmers' markets are important outlets for agricultural producers providing them with increased marketing opportunities; and,
WHEREAS, farmers' markets offer consumers farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, chesses, meats, fish, baked goods, and much more; and,
WHEREAS, farmers' markets enable farmers and consumers the opportunity to interact; and,
WHEREAS, locally, the German Coast Farmers' Market has venues on both the east and west bank of St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, it is the mission of the German Coast Farmers' Market to serve as a community gathering place, tourist destination, and a market for a wide range of fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other value-added items; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council and the Parish President do hereby support and promote the development, and operation of the German Coast Farmers' Market.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF AUGUST 3 - 9, 2008 AS
GERMAN COAST FARMERS' MARKET WEEK
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT THE CITIZENS OF ST. CHARLES PARISH ARE HEREBY ENCOURAGED TO VISIT THE LOCAL FARMERS' MARKETS DURING THIS WEEK.
