Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Construction Contract with Pontchartrain Partners, LLC for Project No. P080905-6B, grant reference Project No. BA-0216, Magnolia Ridge Levee Project, as part of the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee Project, in the amount of $2,399,905.00.
Body
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received by St. Charles Parish on May 14, 2019 for Project No. P080905-6B, grant reference Project No. BA-0216, Magnolia Ridge Levee Project; and,
WHEREAS, Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc., Mark Roberts, P.E., the Engineer for the Project, has reviewed the bids and recommended that the Contract be awarded to the lowest responsive bidder, Pontchartrain Partners, LLC in the amount of $2,399,905.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Magnolia Ridge Levee Project, as part of the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee Project, will provide flood protection to approximately 232 residences, 44 businesses, 2 public buildings, and 25 school/hospital/church buildings located within the Magnolia Ridge watershed area; and,
WHEREAS, the Magnolia Ridge Levee Project consists of the replacement of 1,450 feet of Levee with the total length of 13,824 feet of the Magnolia Ridge Levee brought to a +7.5 foot elevation. New access road will be constructed got the entire length of the Magnolia Ridge Levee. An air gap bridge will be constructed over the pipelines crossing the Magnolia Ridge Levee footprint. The Magnolia Ridge Levee will be tied into the Ellington Levee to the north side of the Project and tied into the Magnolia Ridge PS Levee to the South of the project; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6395 on March 11, 2019, approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the State of Louisiana through the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority to provide up to $3,500,000.00 in Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) funding for said project.
