RESOLUTION NO. 5652
Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development establish a joint Task Force to discuss how to improve safety issues on Highway 90 through St. Charles Parish.
Body
WHEREAS, Highway 90 through St. Charles Parish is slated to become part of the I-49 corridor; and,
WHEREAS, over the years this area has increased in both Commercial and Residential development; and,
WHEREAS, from the western boundary of St. Charles Parish to the eastern boundary of the Parish, traffic has increased drastically with no major road development; and,
WHEREAS, over the last 18 years the Parish Council either by Resolutions or Correspondence has contacted the LDOTD, sixty nine (69) times regarding safety issues or major accidents on behalf of the concerned citizens of whom travel Highway 90; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish needs to address these concerns for the safety of our Residents.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development establish a joint Task Force to discuss how to improve safety issues on Highway 90 through St. Charles Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., Representative Ernest D. Wooten, Mr. William Ankner, Secretary of LDOTD, Mr. Roy Quezaire, LDOTD Legislative Liaison, Mr. R. H. “Buzzy” Wegner, Assistant District Administrator of Operations, St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne, Luling Volunteer Fire Department, Des Allemands, Volunteer Fire Department, Paradis Volunteer Fire Department, and Bayou Gauche Volunteer Fire Department.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
