Title
A resolution to establish the St. Charles Parish Bi-Centennial Committee.
Body
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish was created on March 31, 1807 from the County of the German Coast; and,
WHEREAS, in 2007 St. Charles Parish will celebrate its 200th Birthday; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish President and the Parish Council to create a Committee to begin the planning process for the celebration of this occasion.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby establish the “St. Charles Parish Bi-Centennial Committee”.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said Committee shall consist of members to be appointed by the Parish Council and nominated by the following agencies:
One (1) Member representing the St. Charles Historical Foundation
One (1) Member representing the River Road Historical Society
One (1) Member representing the River Region Arts & Humanities Council
One (1) Member representing the St. Charles Art Guild
One (1) Member representing the River Region Drama Guild
One (1) Member representing the German-Acadian Coast Historical &
Genealogical Society
One (1) Member representing the St. Charles Business Association
One (1) Member representing the St. Charles Rotary Club
One (1) Member representing the St. Charles Women's Club
One (1) Member representing St. Charles Parish School System
One (1) Member representing the Department of Economic Development
& Tourism
One (1) Member representing the River Road Museum
One (1) Member representing the Economic Development Council
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the St. Charles Parish Department of Economic Development & Tourism shall serve as the Administrative Support Office of the Committee.
