TRIBUTE
District V, Councilwoman Marilyn B. Bellock is a native of New Orleans and has been a resident of St. Rose for the past 30 years. She is married to Herbert Bellock, and they are the proud parents of five children, Thelma, Herb, Angelle, Kristi, and Mason.
Councilwoman Bellock is a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School and went on to receive an Associate's Degree in Business Management. She has been a business owner in St. Rose for the past 25 years.
Councilwoman Bellock is a Military Veteran having served in the United States Coast Guard from 1979 to 1983.
Councilwoman Bellock is completing her second term in office. She was first elected to the St. Charles Parish Council in 2015, taking office January 11, 2016, as District V, Councilwoman and was re-elected to a second term in 2019. She served as St. Charles Parish Council Chairman in 2021.
Councilwoman Bellock served as a member of the Special Projects / Public Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee and as Chairman in 2018. She also served as a member of the Contract / Finance and Administrative Committee, the Operations, Maintenance and Construction Management Committee, the Legislative Committee, and the Hurricane Protection Projects Committee.
Councilwoman Bellock served as an Ex-Officio member of the Housing Authority and an Ex-Officio member of the ARC of St. Charles Board of Directors, member of the Sunset Drainage District Board of Commissioners; and is a member of the South Central Planning and Development Commission.
Councilwoman Bellock served as a member of the Louisiana Police Jury Association (PJAL), PJAL's Community Development Committee, and Secretary of the Black Caucus-Louisiana Police Jury Association.
