IN RECOGNITION

WHEREAS, Katie Marie Hymel is the daughter of Danielle and Edward Hymel, III of Destrehan, Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, Katie is a Senior at Destrehan High School where she is a Honor Roll Student, Member of the Cost Pro-Life Club, Kick-Off Mentor Program, and participated in the New Orleans Pro-Start Culinary Arts Competition where her team was awarded Second Place; and,
WHEREAS, Katie was chosen St. Charles Borromeo Parish Outstanding Woman of 2009, is on the Leadership Team for the St. Charles Borromeo Parish Fountain of Youth, travels to Mexico once a year on a mission trip to local orphanages to help rebuild the community and nurture the orphans, attended the National Youth Conference in Kansas, and travels once a year to March For Life in Washington, DC; and,
WHEREAS, Katie's future plans include pursuing a degree in Culinary Arts at Nicholls State University with a secondary degree in Youth Ministry; and,
WHEREAS, Katie was crowned Teen Queen IV in the 4th Annual Festival of Charities Pageant on April 11, 2010, at Ormond Plantation in Destrehan; and,
WHEREAS, the Festival of Charities is a non-profit organization that started in October 2007, whose goal is to celebrate the lives of many special individuals in our Community and State by showing that beauty and care have no boundaries. The organization benefits the Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans, The ARC of St. Charles, and many other area charitable organizations; and,
WHEREAS, as Teen Queen, Katie will represent the Festival of Charities at local and parish events as well as travel the State of Louisiana raising awareness of the Organization's Mission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
