ORDINANCE NO.
Title
An ordinance to direct all Librarians to install filtering systems in computers which are made available to the public throughout St. Charles Parish.
Body
WHEREAS, the recent incidents in neighboring parishes prompt the government to protect the children from obscene material on the internet; and,
WHEREAS, recent incidents is prompting a nationwide request to public officials to completely eliminate access to selected web sites; and,
WHEREAS, adults using adult material are not aware of injuries caused to children in the library premises.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That all Librarians are directed to install filtering systems in computers available in public libraries throughout St. Charles Parish to prevent access to web sites offering pornography or obscene material and also stay in compliance with Freedom of Information Act of U.S. Government.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby direct all Librarians to install filtering systems in computers which are made available to the public throughout St. Charles Parish.
