Title
An ordinance to repeal Ordinance No. 04-6-7 which created a Citizens' Recycling Committee.
Body
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 04-6-7 on June 7, 2004 which created a Citizens' Recycling Committee; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 04-8-13 on August 16, 2004 which amended the Committee Membership; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 05-6-13 on June 20, 2005 designating the Citizens' Recycling Committee as a standing Committee of the Parish Council; and,
WHEREAS, on October 4, 2005 the Parish was advised by BFI that Hurricane Katrina caused heavy water and wind damage to their Recycling Facility and they will not be able to continue to collect curbside recyclable materials; and,
WHEREAS, on November 2, 2005 the Parish was advised by Coastal Waste Services, Inc. that the Vista Fibers Recycling Facility in New Orleans incurred tremendous damage from Hurricane Katrina and there is no projected reopening date; and,
WHEREAS, on November 7, 2005 the Parish was advised by Ms. Kathleen Campo, Chairman of the Citizens' Recycling Committee that due to the Hurricane's effect on local recycling facilities the Committee is requesting that it be dissolved.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Ordinance No. 04-6-7 adopted June 7, 2004, as amended, is hereby repealed and the Citizens' Recycling Committee, a standing Committee of the Parish Council is hereby abolished.
SECTION II. That the Parish Council hereby expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation to each member of the Committee for their service.
