IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Philibert Joseph “P.J.” Rogers, Jr. and his wife of sixty years, Genevia, are lifelong residents of Des Allemands, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish. They were blessed with three children: Cindy, Marlin, and Sue and are the proud Grandparents to Jennifer, Landon, Tyson, Kade, Brooke, and Jeremy; and Great Grandparents to William, Ashlyn, and Emma; and,
WHEREAS, P.J. Rogers entered the United States Navy September 14, 1944 and was honorably discharged July 3, 1946; he is a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and,
WHEREAS, P.J. Rogers served on the St. Charles Parish Hospital Board and faithfully served on many church boards at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands; and,
WHEREAS, P.J. Rogers and his wife Genevia, reigned as King and Queen of the Krewe of Des Allemands Parade in 2001; and,
WHEREAS, Honorable P.J. Rogers has served as Constable for eighteen years. At a Special Election held on May 5, 1990, he was elected as Constable representing District IV and District VII, filling an unexpired term; and continued his service after his re-election on October 6, 1990; He served as Constable from May 24, 1990 through December 31, 1996; and,
WHEREAS, On October 18, 1997 and October 5, 2002, Honorable P.J. Rogers was unopposed and elected as Constable for District IV. He represented District IV for two consecutive terms ending December 31, 2008.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
