Title
A resolution strongly urging the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development to install “No U-Turn” signage along U.S. Highway 90 in Luling, between Barton Avenue and Coronado Drive, in both directions, in all median openings, with the exception of those streets that have signal lights.
Body
WHEREAS, according to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Chapter 1A the purpose of traffic control devices, as well as the principles for their use, is to promote highway safety and efficiency by providing for the orderly movement of all road users on streets and highways throughout the nation; and,
WHEREAS, U.S. Highway 90 is a very heavily traveled roadway used by residents, school buses, and industry; and,
WHEREAS, over the years traffic in this area has increased drastically; and,
WHEREAS, due to hazardous conditions that frequently occur when vehicles attempt to make U-Turns in both directions along U.S. Highway 90, in all median openings, reducing U-Turns in this area would facilitate a reduction in accidents and near-accidents and the severity of these accidents; and,
WHEREAS, for the safety of St. Charles Parish residents and all motorists who travel through this area of our community, the St. Charles Parish governing authority is requesting the implementation of “No U-Turn” signage in this area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby strongly urge the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development install “No U-Turn” signage along Highway 90 in Luling, between Barton Avenue and Coronado Drive, in both directions, in all median openings, with the exception of those streets that hav...
