Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a contract with Barriere Construction Company, LLC., for the construction of Parish Project No. P021201, Road Maintenance 2003, in the amount of $874,101.90.
Body
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received by St. Charles Parish on August 29, 2003 for Road Maintenance 2003; and,
WHEREAS, Shread-Kuyrkendall and Associates, Inc., Consulting Engineers for the Project, have reviewed the bids and recommend that the Contract be awarded to the low bidder, Barriere Construction Company, LLC., in the Base Bid amount of $659,280.40; and,
WHEREAS, due to the fact that the Base Bid was under the projected construction cost estimate, Shread-Kuyrkendall and Associates, Inc., Consulting Engineers for the Project, recommends Alternate 1 be awarded in the amount of $214,821.50.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the bid of Barriere Construction Company, LLC., for the construction of St. Charles Parish Project No. P021201, Road Maintenance 2003, is hereby accepted, with Base Bid and Alternate 1, in the amount of $874,101.90.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said contract documents.

The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this ______ day of ____________, 2003, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
