Body
P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, National Heatstroke Awareness Month serves as a critical reminder to educate ourselves about the dangers of extreme heat exposure. This condition can escalate quickly, leading to severe health complications; and,
WHEREAS, recognizing the signs of heatstroke, implementing preventative measures in vehicles, and staying safe during extreme heat events are essential steps in creating a safer environment for everyone; and,
WHEREAS, heatstroke awareness becomes crucial, particularly regarding the safety of children and pets in vehicles. Vehicles can heat up very quickly, with temperatures rising 20 degrees in as little as 10 minutes, creating a deadly situation for anyone locked inside; and,
WHEREAS, by locking the vehicle door when it is not in use, can prevent children from gaining access to the vehicle and minimize the risk of them getting trapped; never leaving a child alone in a vehicle, even rolling down a window does little to keep a vehicle cool. Some newer vehicles come with a back seat reminder that will allow parents to check their vehicle before they leave, and if you see a child in distress in a vehicle, call 911 immediately and get help; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish encourages all parents, family members, and caregivers, to implement strategies and stay informed during the hot, summer months; and,
WHEREAS, National Heatstroke Awareness Month reinforces the importance of good safety practices, ensuring public safety, during heat awareness month.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM AUGUST 2025 AS
