Proclamation: "New York and Washington, D.C. Day in St. Charles Parish"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, terrorists suddenly and brutally attacked innocent citizens on the soil of the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to American children, women and men, these innocent victims included citizens of some forty nations of the world; and,
WHEREAS, this cold blooded action took the lives of firemen, policeman and many other civilians as they put the lives of others before their own; and,
WHEREAS, as a result of these events, many brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, and grandparents will never again return to their homes; and,
WHEREAS, an attack on America is an attack on every nationality, on every race, religion and civilized person; and,
WHEREAS, the good people of St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, consider themselves to be the neighbors of all the citizens of New York and Washington, D.C.; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish wishes to do what it can to assist those with whom we grieve; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council and Parish President offer the most profound and sincere condolences to the families of those who perished.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2001, TO BE
"NEW YORK AND WASHINGTON, D.C. DAY IN ST. CHARLES PARISH"
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT ALL RESIDENTS OF ST. CHARLES PARISH ARE HEREBY REQUESTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE UNITY RALLY TO ASSIST THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED IN THIS TRAGEDY.
