Proclamation: "Fall Trash Bash Month in St. Charles Parish"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish has long been recognized for its natural and rural beauty; and,
WHEREAS, Parish Leaders share a strong desire with residents to protect our environment, beginning at home; and,
WHEREAS, one of the eight parish goals is to promote a parish that is safe, environmentally conscious, and provides culture and aesthetic enjoyments; and,
WHEREAS, our vision is to create a parish that is clean, attractive, and communicates pride in the community; and,
WHEREAS, litter is a detriment to the quality of life we enjoy in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, we realize the need to come together to beautify our homes, neighborhoods, streets and byways in an effort to create our ideal community; and,
WHEREAS, volunteer groups and families will come together to pick up trash along parish and state highways, servitudes, and right-of-ways, as well as beautify private homes and businesses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby declare the month of October 2014 as
"FALL TRASH BASH MONTH IN ST. CHARLES PARISH"
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the public is invited to help clean up St. Charles Parish, at a time and place of their own choosing, at any time during October. Residents are urged to join in by signing up at www.scptrashbash.org or by calling (985) 783-5182. Participants are also encouraged to participate in the Trash Bash photo contest for the chance to win one of two Apple iPads donated by Entergy.
