INTRODUCED BY: CLAYTON “SNOOKIE” FAUCHEUX
COUNCILMAN-AT-LARGE, DIVISION B
RESOLUTION NO.
Title
A resolution strongly requesting Cox Communications of St. Charles Parish to reduce the standard rate for analog service due to the numerous cuts in analog channel service over the last few months.
Body
WHEREAS, Cox Communications has cut vital channels on the analog service originally offered to the residents of St. Charles Parish in a effort which is only beneficial to Cox Communications; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish has received numerous complaints from Cox customers regarding the cuts in service but not adjustments to the cost of service; and,
WHEREAS, our Residents have endured cuts in service on December 2005 and now again scheduled for July 12, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, cut in analog service will affect our Residents who are on a fixed income, disability income, and public facilities such as nursing homes, possibly to the extent forcing them to disconnect their service; and,
WHEREAS, if Residents are forced to disconnect service this will also hinder the Residents from receiving vital information on the Parish Cable Channel 6, especially with information regarding Hurricanes and information on Channel 8 for the St. Charles School Board School System; and,
WHEREAS, Cox Communications is a monopoly in St. Charles Parish and for this reason alone should have compassion and consideration for the General Public and should work within their power to provide the best and most cost effective cable service for all income levels in the Parish.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby strongly request Cox Communications of St. Charles Parish to reduce the standard rate for analog service due to the numerous cuts in analog channel service over the last few months.
