Title
A resolution to request the support of the Legislative Delegation in opposing any legislative action which would pass mandated expenses down to the local Government without proper State funds to pay for those mandates.
Body
WHEREAS, the Police Jury Association's Resolutions Committee adopted a resolution opposing such action at the recent Police Jury Association Convention held in Lafayette, Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, every Parish Government in Louisiana has felt the effects of mandated expenses with no increase in revenues; and,
WHEREAS, more than ninety-five percent of General Fund revenue of many Parishes is dedicated to pay expenses which are mandated by law; and,
WHEREAS, the State continues to pass down expenses to the local government even though they do not have funds available to cover the expenses.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby request the support of the Legislative Delegation in opposing any legislative action which would pass mandated expenses down to the local Government without proper State funds to pay for those mandates.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Police Jury Association of Louisiana and the Legislative Delegation.
