Proclamation: “National Volunteer Week”

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, President Richard Nixon established National Volunteer Week with an executive order in 1974 and every sitting U.S. President since, has issued a proclamation during National Volunteer Week, as have many U.S. Mayors and Governors, urging Americans to give their time to community outreach organizations; and,
WHEREAS, volunteerism is an enormous part of making progress in strengthening communities across America and National Volunteer Week is a way to promote, recognize, and celebrate the efforts of volunteers; and,
WHEREAS, National Volunteer Week is about inspiring, recognizing, and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities. It’s about demonstrating to the nation that by working together, we have the fortitude to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF APRIL 10-16, 2016 AS
“NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK”
IN THE PARISH OF ST. CHARLES AND URGE ALL CITIZENS TO VOLUNTEER AND PUT THEIR HEARTS INTO VOLUNTEERISM IN THEIR COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
