Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development to install a "Traffic Light" at the intersection of Airline Highway and East Harding Street, New Sarpy.
Body
WHEREAS, East Harding Street is the primary means of traveling to Airline Drive for residents of New Sarpy traveling to and from their jobs; and,
WHEREAS, East Harding Street is used daily by the school buses transporting students to and from school; and,
WHEREAS, with the open span of roadway from the traffic lights at the Shell-Motiva Refinery entrance in Norco and Ormond Boulevard in Destrehan, and with enormous amount of traffic, it has created a very dangerous and difficult situation for vehicles entering East Harding Street from Airline Drive and vehicles turning onto Airline Drive from East Harding Street; and,
WHEREAS, the increased traffic from the chemical plants of construction workers and plant workers causes a potentially hazardous condition for east bound traffic.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development install a traffic light at the intersection of Airline Highway (US 61) and East Harding Street, New Sarpy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Gary Smith, Jr., Senator Edward J. "Ed" Price, Representative Randal L. Gaines, and Representative Gregory A. Miller asking for their assistance in this regard.
