TRIBUTE
District VII, Councilman BARRY MINNICH is a native of South Charleston, West Virginia, and has lived in St. Charles Parish for over 40 years. He is married to his Junior High School sweetheart, Ann Ford and they are the proud parents of four daughters, Tara, April, Blaire and Annie, and two grandchildren, Anna and Evan.
Barry has an extensive record as an Elected Official representing St. Charles Parish. He is serving his fourth term in Office. He was first elected to the Parish Council in 1991 as Councilman-At-Large, Division B and was re-elected to a second term in 1995. In 1999, he was elected as the District VII, Councilman and was re-elected without opposition for a second term in 2003.
Barry is a 1974 graduate of Hahnville High School and attended Southeastern Louisiana University. He is a Site Coordinator at Dow Chemical where he has worked for over 31 years.
Barry is a member and Fire Chief of the Luling Volunteer Fire Department. He is also a member of the Louisiana and International Associations of Fire Chiefs and is a Life-Member of the Louisiana Firemen's Association. He is a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 9933, and has been active in the Hahnville High School Dugout Club and other school and recreation groups.
Barry served as Council Chairman for three years, Chairman of the Legislative Committee, and served on the Operations, Maintenance and Construction Management Committee, Special Projects/Public Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee, Special Committee for Waterworks Treatment Plant, and Cable Television Franchise Review Committee. Barry also served as a member of the Committee to Plan and Design the St. Charles Parish Corrections Facility and is a graduate of the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute of Corrections P.O.N.I.
