Title
An ordinance to amend the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances, Chapter 18, Personnel, Article II. Classified Civil Service System, Div. 2. Civil Service Board, Sec. 18-26, Members., to replace (c), (1), due to the dissolution of the Louisiana Civil Service League.
Body
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Civil Service League was dissolved effective February 29, 2024; and,
WHEREAS, the appointing authority set forth in Section 18-26 (c)(1) has become non-existent; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter mandates (“shall”) that the St. Charles Parish Council designate by ordinance a replacement authority.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 18, Personnel, Article II. Classified Civil Service System, Div. 2. Civil Service Board, Sec. 18-26. Members. (c), (1), is hereby amended as follows with new text underlined and deleted text in strikethrough:
Sec. 18-26. Members.
(c) The members of the board shall be appointed as follows:
(1) One (1) member shall be appointed by the director of the department of civil service, State of Louisiana. of the state after consulting with the president of the Louisiana Civil Service League.
The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
