Title
A resolution approving and authorizing the Parish President to submit a grant application for the 2009 Louisiana Safe Routes to School Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is accepting applications for the 2009 Louisiana Safe Routes to School Program for infrastructure improvements funding of up to $250,000 and non-infrastructure items funding of up to $50,000; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish is applying as sponsor for the program funding on behalf of Norco Elementary School K-3, Norco Elementary School 4-6, and Sacred Heart of Jesus School for the proposed construction of a sidewalk along Fifth Street in Norco, sidewalk construction and repairs on the schools' grounds, crosswalks, signage, and other non-infrastructure items; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation and Development suggests the local governing body certify by resolution its support of the proposed project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby pledge our support for the proposed project and authorize the Parish President to submit an application for the 2009 Louisiana Safe Routes to School Program and to execute any and all necessary documents.
