Title
A resolution supporting HB 490 and SB 305 as the bills would positively affect St. Charles Parish by improving the governing structure impacting coastal restoration and flood protection.
Body
WHEREAS,      HB 490 is a constitutional amendment that would prohibit funds from being transferred out of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund for any other purpose inconsistent with the Coastal Protection Plan and has already been officially supported by the Louisiana Parishes Against Coastal Erosion (LA PACE); and,
WHEREAS,      SB 305 creates the Coastal Louisiana Levee Consortium as an advisory commission to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and both PLD and LBLD shall serve as members; and,
WHEREAS,      the St. Charles Parish Council, acting as the governing authority of the Parish of St. Charles desires to support HB 490 and SB 305 as the Council believes it to be in the best interest of the people of St. Charles.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby support HB 490 and SB 305 as the bills would positively affect St. Charles Parish by improving the governing structure impacting coastal restoration and flood protection and request the Parish President or his designee to take any actions necessary to achieve the spirit of this resolution.
