Title
A resolution to request congressional support for appropriation of $100,000 of federal monies under Section 205 of the Flood Control Act of 1948 as amended, to study the Destrehan/St. Rose area selected channel improvements and/or flood prone facilities.
Body
WHEREAS, the Parish of St. Charles has requested that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers assist the Parish by investigating flooding problems in the Destrehan/St. Rose area; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish has requested the study address flood proofing of selected structures, selected channel improvements, and possible relocation of selected flood prone facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would need $100,000 to finance the study for St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, funds for the study could be appropriated under the authority of Section 205 of the Flood Control Act of 1948 as amended; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish of St. Charles is capable of fulfilling financial obligations for construction, operation, and maintenance; in general providing a minimum of 35 percent of the total project costs including furnishing lands, easements, rights-of-way, relocations, and disposal areas (LERRD'S).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL do hereby request congressional support for appropriation of $100,000 of federal monies under Section 205 of the Flood Control Act of 1948 as amended, to study the Destrehan/St. Rose area selected channel improvement and/or flood prone facilities.
