A resolution requesting the Department of Transportation and Development to construct a striped center turning lane on U.S. Highway 90 in St. Charles Parish from Louisiana Street to Highway 306 in Paradis.

WHEREAS, U. S. Highway 90 in Paradis is a very heavily traveled roadway; and,
WHEREAS, there are several businesses and residents along this section of U.S. Highway 90 in addition to the R. J. Vial Middle School and the J. B. Martin Jr. High School; and,
WHEREAS, numerous accidents have occurred on this undivided stretch of highway including fatalities; and,
WHEREAS, adequate right-of-way exists to accommodate a center turning lane with no additional land acquisition; and,
WHEREAS, a striped median is requested as exist in the Boutte area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development construct a striped center turning lane on U. S. Highway 90 in St. Charles Parish from Louisiana Street to Highway 306 in Paradis.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be forwarded to Governor Bobby Jindal, Senator David Vitter, Senator Mary Landrieu, Representative Cedric Richmond, Senator Gary L. Smith, Jr., Representative Gregory A. Miller, Department of Transportation & Development Secretary Ms. Sherri LeBas, Department of Transportation & Development District Administrator Mr. Chris Morvant asking for their assistance in this regard.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the resolution was declared adopted this day of , 2014, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
