Proclamation: "National Hunting and Fishing Day"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, since 1972, National Hunting and Fishing Day has recognized the vital role sportsmen and women play in conserving this Nation's fish and wildlife resources; and,
WHEREAS, since the turn of the 20th century, hunters and anglers have been the leader in nearly all major conservation programs and are responsible for the founding of the State Fish and Game Departments in all 50 states; and,
WHEREAS, hunters and anglers have contributed more than $20 billion for wildlife and habitat conservation since 1937 with the purchases of licenses, stamps, tag fees, and through self-imposed excise taxes on hunting, shooting, archery, and angling equipment, boating fuels, and travel. From the waters of the gulf coast to the mountain ranges that reign over the West, American adventurers are supporting thousands of jobs and contributing to wildlife management in all States; and,
WHEREAS, sportsmen and women are our Nation's most committed conservationists. Hunting and fishing are premised on respect for wildlife and the formidable beauty of the natural world, and also keeps our waters stocked and our forests healthy, ensuring that our country's public and private lands continue to provide both sustenance and sport for future generations; and,
WHEREAS, we would like to take this opportunity to commend hunters and anglers for their efforts on behalf of wildlife and for their contributions to conservation and we encourage all citizens to experience the wonders of the great outdoors and learn the responsibilities of hunting and fishing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2019 AS
"NATIONAL HUNTING AND FISHING DAY"
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH AND URGE ALL CITIZENS TO RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTIONS OF AMERICA'S HUNTERS AND ANGLERS, AND ALL THOSE WHO WORK TO CONSERVE...
