Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Construction Contract with BLD Services LLC for Project No. P080801, Eighty Arpent Pump Station Improvements Project in the amount of $6,965,925.00.
Body
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received by St. Charles Parish on December 30, 2010 for Project No. P080801, Eighty Arpent Pump Station Improvements Project; and,
WHEREAS, Professional Engineering Consultants Corporation, John Shires, P.E., the Engineer for the Project, has reviewed the bids and recommend that the Contract be awarded to the low bidder, BLD Services, LLC in the amount of $6,965,925.00; and,
WHEREAS, the existing Eighty Arpent Pump Station does not have Bar Screen Cleaners installed and the accumulation of debris at the Pump inlets must currently be cleaned manually, automated Bar Screen cleaners will ensure that the pump inlets are maintained in a clean condition, thus enabling the Eighty Arpent Pump Station to operate at maximum efficiency during high rainfall and storm conditions; and,
WHEREAS, the pump capacity of the existing Eighty Arpent Pump Station does not meet the Drainage demands of Luling area, where home flooding has been incurred, increased pump capacity will reduce the risk of flooding in the Luling area; and,
WHEREAS, the construction costs for this project will be funded with a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant (HMGP# 1603c-089-0020, FEMA Project No. 0189) awarded to the Parish in the amount of $6,967,930.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the bid of BLD Services, LLC., for the installation improvements to the Eighty Arpent Pump Station under Project No. P080801, Eighty Arpent Pump Station Improvements Project, be hereby approved and accepted, in the amount of $6,965,925.00.
