Title
An Emergency Ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a contract with Fleming Construction Co., Inc. for the Emergency Waterline Replacement Highway 90 to Ama.
Body
WHEREAS, the existing 10” waterline located north of Hwy. 90 connecting to Ama has numerous leaks and is beyond repair; and,
WHEREAS, due to the condition of the existing waterline, it has become necessary to take the waterline out of service; and,
WHEREAS, the loss of the waterline requires emergency replacement to provide fire protection and for consumption; and,
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received on August 2, 2002 for this project; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish Engineers have reviewed the bids and recommended that the contract be awarded to the low bidder Fleming Construction Co., Inc. in the amount of $449,920.00.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That a Public Emergency is hereby declared for the Emergency Waterline Replacement Highway 90 to Ama.
SECTION II. That the bid of Fleming Construction Co., Inc. in the amount of $449,920.00 for Emergency Waterline Replacement Highway 90 to Ama is hereby accepted.
SECTION III. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute the contract on behalf of the Parish of St. Charles.

The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this day of , 2002, to become effective immediately.
