In Memoriam: Father Benedict Joseph Quang

IN MEMORIAM
WHEREAS, on December 6, 2001, Almighty God, in His Infinite Wisdom, saw fit to call from amongst us one of His most worthy servants, Father Benedict Joseph Quang; and,
WHEREAS, Father Quang, a native of Saigon, escaped Vietnam with the help of his family and arrived in the United States in 1980; and,
WHEREAS, Father Quang graduated from Warren Easton High School and went on to St. Joseph Seminary College where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and took temporary vows as a Benedictine Brother; and,
WHEREAS, after a period of discernment Father Quang decided to affiliate with the Archdiocese of New Orleans, eventually attending Notre Dame Seminary; and,
WHEREAS, Father Quang served as a Pastoral Intern at St. Louise de Marillac under Father Lawrence Hecker before graduating with a Master of Divinity; and,
WHEREAS, Father Quang was ordained into the Priesthood on June 1, 1991; and,
WHEREAS, Father Quang served as Associate Pastor at St. Mark in Chalmette until 1995, he spent a year at Resurrection of Our Lord in New Orleans and two years at St. Cletus in Gretna; and,
WHEREAS, in 1998 Father Quang began serving as Pastor of St. Charles Borromeo; and,
WHEREAS, on January 15, 2000, Father Quang was named Pastor at St. Gertrude; and,
WHEREAS, words cannot adequately express or convey the appreciation felt by all of us for the many years of dedicated service rendered by Father Quang to St. Charles Parish.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, duly assembled on this 4th day of February, 2002, do hereby express our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of
