IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Mr. Barry Guillot and his wife Amber are residents of Luling, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and are the proud parents of two sons Nicholas and Dylan; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Guillot, a Harry Hurst Middle School Science Teacher, has given much of his time to educating children about wetlands conservation and preservation. He is the creator and coordinator of the LaBranche Wetland Watchers, a nationally recognized service-learning project that has helped nearly 8,000 students volunteer more than 40,000 hours since the projects inception in 1998; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Guillot was nominated by Councilman Lance Marino to receive the Blue Cross - Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation's 2007 Angel Award; and,
WHEREAS, the Angel Award was founded in 1995 to seek out, honor, and reward Louisianians who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to our State's children; and this year, eight Louisiana "Angels" were selected and received grants of $20,000 each for their chosen charities; and,
WHEREAS, a committee of past recipients of the Angel Award, now in its 13th year, selected from more than 75 nominations from throughout the State and Mr. Guillot was one of eight winners chosen for the Angel Award; and,
WHEREAS, on November 12, 2007, Mr. Guillot and the seven other winners were honored during an awards presentation in Baton Rouge; and,
WHEREAS, as an Angel Award winner, Mr. Guillot received a grant for his LaBranche Wetland Watchers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
