Title
A resolution to call a Special Election to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of At-Large, Division A Councilwoman Wendy Benedetto.
Body
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Wendy Benedetto, At-Large, Division A has resigned from office as a member of the St. Charles Parish Council effective August 25, 2020; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article III Section A, 6, of the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter, if the unexpired portion of the term is more than one year, the vacancy shall be filled by special election called by the Parish Council within sixty (60) days after the vacancy occurs and held in not more than six months nor less than three months.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby call a Special Election to fill the At-Large, Division A vacancy on the St. Charles Parish Council with the Primary Election to be held on March 20, 2021 and the General Election to be held on April 24, 2021.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the qualifying dates for said election are hereby set for January 20, 2021, January 21, 2021, and January 22, 2021.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the resolution was declared adopted this day of , 2020, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
