IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Mr. Austin Reeder received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from Auburn University in Alabama, his Master of Public Health, Epidemiology, and his Master of Health Administration both from Tulane University in New Orleans; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Reeder was appointed Chief Executive Officer of St. Charles Parish Hospital effective February 8, 2017; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Reeder worked to set a foundation and structure at St. Charles Parish Hospital that will ensure its continued success with improvements in quality, safety, patient experience, and financial stability while growing services and expanding access to quality care locally; and,
WHEREAS, these improvements included added services and specialties, such as chemotherapy, oncology, orthopedics, GI/endoscopy, and OB/GYN; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Reeder also made great strides in community outreach and education through hosting town hall meetings with patients and the general public along with "Lunch and Learn" forums, which included community leaders from industry, government, local non-profit organizations, and local businesses, noting that "it is important to have the hospital continue to be connected to listen and learn from the people in order to see how we can better serve them"; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish Hospital was recognized as a 2018 "Top General Hospital" by The Leapfrog Group, one of only thirty-five hospitals across the nation and the only hospital in the State of Louisiana to receive such recognition for providing exceptional healthcare to our community; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Reeder has represented St. Charles Parish Hospital as a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Rural Hospital Coalition where he advocated for, and promoted the importance of, Rural Hospitals in Louisiana, continuing to keep and expand quality care in their lo...
