IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Rachel Anne Bourgeois is a resident of Norco, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish where she lives with her mother Rita Bertolino, and is the daughter of Harold Bourgeois of Slidell; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel is a 2005 Cum Laude Graduate of Destrehan High School, named Who's Who Among American High School Students, selected to the U.S. Achievement Academy as an All-American Scholar in Speech and Drama; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel received Character Education Awards, earned 2nd place in the St. Charles Parish American Legion Oratorical Contest, obtained the Knights of Columbus Third Degree Catholic Youth Leadership Award, received the annual Destrehan High School Speech Department Award, 2005 recipient of the Russell D. Giammanco Memorial Scholarship, and a lifetime honor roll student; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel will be attending Southeastern Louisiana University majoring in Organizational Communications; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel describes herself as enthusiastic, determined, and sincere; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel is a reader for the St. Charles Borromeo Youth Mass, she also served as an Assistant Teacher in a 7th grade religion class, volunteered for three years as a teacher for the St. Charles Borromeo Child Church Program becoming the first teenager to do so, and took the opportunity to teach Junior Achievement to a local kindergarten class; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel's hobbies and activities, to name a few: dancing, which she has enjoyed for sixteen years, listening to DIVA 92.3, marathon shopping, reading young adult novels, going to the movies, babysitting young children, enjoyed serving as Co-Captain to the Destrehan High School Desty Darling Dance Team, serving on the Prom Committee, and being a member of Future Teachers of America.
