IN   RECOGNITION

 

WHEREAS,                     Walter Becnel is a resident of St. Charles Parish, residing in Norco, Louisiana with his wife of 51 years, Gay Nell Matherne Becnel.  They are the proud parents of three children:  Doreen wife of Michael Landry, Celeste, wife of Gregg Stein, and Chad, husband of Tiffany Simmons; and the proud grandparents to four granddaughters:  Brooke, Karleigh, Lynleigh, and Madison; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     Walter joined the St. Charles Parish Festival in 1984 as a committee member, in 1985, he was appointed Assistant Chairman, and in 1993, he was appointed Chairman; a position he has held till this date; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     Walter has been attending the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival in New Iberia since 1984; he has served as St. Charles Parishes’ Grand Duke since 1990; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     on Saturday, August 6, 2016, Walter was crowned King at the 58th annual St. Charles Parish Festival pageant held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School in Norco, in honor of his many years of service and dedication to the organization.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to

 

WALTER BECNEL

ST. CHARLES PARISH FESTIVAL KING

“German Coast”, a parish of

unprecedented economic and social

development, known for its

  hospitality, rural living and sporting
