Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a signal light at the intersection of Airline Drive (LA 61) and East Harding, New Sarpy.
Body
WHEREAS, East Harding is the primary means of traveling to Airline Drive for residents of New Sarpy traveling to and from their jobs; and,
WHEREAS, East Harding is used daily by the school buses transporting students to and from school; and,
WHEREAS, with the open span of roadway from the traffic signal lights at the Shell-Motiva Refinery entrance in Norco and Ormond Boulevard in Destrehan, and with the enormous amount of traffic traveling at high rates of speed it has created a very dangerous and difficult situation for vehicles entering East Harding from Airline Drive and vehicles turning onto Airline Drive from East Harding; and,
WHEREAS, because of the increase traffic from the chemical plants of construction workers and plant workers causing a increase and potentially hazardous condition for east bound flow.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a signal light at the intersection of Airline Drive (LA 61) and East Harding, New Sarpy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, and Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr.
