Title
An ordinance approving and authorizing the execution of a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the St. Charles Parish Law Enforcement District and St. Charles Parish to remove and replace the New Sarpy Substation with a new facility which will be located on the same property.
Body
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Article VI, Section 20 of the Louisiana Constitution of 1974 and the Local Services Law (Part VII, Chapter 2, Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950), a political subdivision may exercise and perform any authorized power and function, including financing, jointly or in cooperation with one or more political subdivisions; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff desires to remove and replace the antiquated New Sarpy Substation with a new facility; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish owns the real property on which the Substation sits; and,
WHEREAS, the replacement of the Substation with a new facility will be in the best interest of St. Charles Parish as the new facility will enhance the ability of the Sheriff to provide for the safety and security of its citizens.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the St. Charles Parish Law Enforcement District and St. Charles Parish for the removal and building of a new facility known as the New Sarpy Substation is hereby authorized and accepted.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said Cooperative Endeavor Agreement on behalf of St. Charles Parish.
The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this ______ day of __________, 2024 to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
