Title
A resolution expressing support of House Bill 335 of the 2019 Louisiana Legislative Session which provides for food service establishments serving imported crawfish or shrimp to inform patrons of the country of origin of said seafood; and otherwise to provide with respect thereto.
Body
WHEREAS, imported crawfish and shrimp are not tested and can be filled with antibiotics and other toxins which pose a potential health risk to consumers; and,
WHEREAS, Louisiana consumers have the right to know if crawfish or shrimp being served in a food service establishment has been imported from other countries; and,
WHEREAS, HB 335 would require food service establishments serving crawfish and shrimp to inform their patrons of the country of origin of said seafood thereby providing for the health, safety and well-being of the crawfish and shrimp consumers of Louisiana.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby support HB 335 of the 2019 Louisiana Legislative Session, which provides for food service establishments serving imported crawfish or shrimp to inform patrons of the country of origin of said seafood.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Governor John Bel Edwards, Senator Gary L. Smith, Jr., Senator Edward J. "Ed" Price, Representative Gregory A. Miller, Representative Randal L. Gaines, Representative Joseph A. Stagni, U. S. Senator William "Bill" Cassidy, U. S. Senator John Kennedy, U. S. Representative Cedric Richmond, and U. S. Representative Garret Graves.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the resolution was declared adopted this day of , 2019, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
