Title
An ordinance to confirm and ratify the acquisition of Lot 29-A, Square 1 of Oakland Estates, 206 East Oakland Street, St. Rose, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana from HSBC Mortgage Services, Inc., and/or all other owners of record, as their interests may appear, in the amount of $122,000.00.
Body
WHEREAS, Oakland Estates Subdivision in St. Rose, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, has a history of severe flooding problems; and,
WHEREAS, the only access road to the Oakland Pump Station is currently located next to the Railroad tracks on Railroad servitude which is a hazardous situation both to the Parish Personnel and Railroad Personnel; and,
WHEREAS, an Engineering Drainage Review was made of the Oakland and Fairfield Subdivisions, which review included recommendations to improve drainage of said area by increasing the capacity of the Oakland Pump Station, and by improving the drainage conveyance system in said area; and,
WHEREAS, the plan to upgrade the Oakland Pump Station includes the replacement of equipment to improve the drainage capability and reliability of the Pump Station, however, the Roadway is too narrow to safely allow large construction equipment access to the Pump Station for maintenance and upgrade of the Pump Station Equipment; and,
WHEREAS, access to the Oakland Pump Station from the residential side of the Station is needed to accommodate the required improvements; and,
WHEREAS, the drainage project and the acquisition of the hereinafter described property is in furtherance of the public's best interest and purpose, and is in satisfaction of a public need.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
