IN   RECOGNITION
WHEREAS,      District Attorney Harry J. Morel, Jr. and his wife of forty-three years, Gwen are residents of Luling, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and they are the proud parents of three daughters and six wonderful grandchildren:  Chloe, Cameron, Collin, Therese, Camille, and Kaelen; and,
WHEREAS,      District Attorney Morel is a graduate of Jesuit High School, and has an undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and his Juris Doctorate from LSU Law School; and,
WHEREAS,      District Attorney Morel worked as an Orleans Parish City Attorney, later accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney with the St. Charles Parish District Attorney's Office and worked until he won the election as District Attorney in 1978, and has held the office since 1979 and has been unopposed in all subsequent elections; and,
WHEREAS,      on Friday, July 10, 2009, District Attorney Morel was inducted into the 2009 Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame; and,
WHEREAS,      the Justice Hall of Fame was established by the Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum Foundation Board of Directors in 2004 to honor and acknowledge the men and women of Louisiana who have served their community and state in the honorable profession of law enforcement, jusiciary, and related fields.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
